The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed.  In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire--that is, if she makes it through the Change.  Not all of those who are chosen do.  It’s tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling.  She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.  But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers.  When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

   As soon as Zoey Redbird gets marked she knows her bad day has just turned to the worst. Her Mother and Step father try to push religion on her when all she really needs is to get to the House of the Night where Fledgling vampyres go after they have been Marked. Her Grandmother a cheekoee native eventually gets zoey there but not before Zoey's Mark is blessed by the goddess of the night Nyx. Zoey is special and she soon finds out just how special. Zoey's mentor at the House of the night is their High Priestess Neferet who has powers of healing as well as an affiliate to cat's. As Zoey enters this new world she makes many friends. Stevie Rae is Zoey's roomate and a sweet cowgirl that becomes Zoey's new best friend. Shaunee & Erin are the Twins only because they act so much alike they just had to be seprated at birth and Damien is super smart and the one guy view they have on their side. Along with these friends Zoey also meets an enemy- Aphrodite(The Hag from Hell) who she just so happens catches doing something very naughty to the hottest guy ever (Erik) in the hallway on Zoey's very first day..how embarrassing!! eck... Erik is a total drama boy geek but even if he does belong to the Sons of Darkness and is Aphrodites ex.. he totally melts Zoey's world and he seems like the one person she can talk to who understands. But the first amazing thing that Zoey notices is during the Full Moon ritual which Neferet performs she learns she can feel all 5 of elements no fledgling are priestess for that matter has ever felt All 5!! This storyline reminds me alot of the Nightworld series, with spirits, ghost, & Vampires you can't go wrong. Some parts dragged alittle for me in the beginning of the storyline but when intresting twist happen with the students who die from the change I was completely sucked in I can't wait to read the second one to find out more!
